En esta oportunidad quiero contarles sobre el Jardín Botánico del barrio Pankow en Berlin , donde además de tener grandes invernaderos con diversas especies de flora, cuentan con 3 grandes espacios de cultivo de hortalizas, cereales, granos y frutos: Dos huertas circulares, que son mantenidas por vecinos/as del barrio, y por otro lado cuentan con una zona de cultivo donde representan a pequeña escala los grandes cultivos del mundo, de manera proporcionada según los datos de FAO. Me resultó una herramienta super didáctica y reflexiva, ya que señalizan cuánto de esos cultivos comemos directamente los humanos y cuánto está destinado a consumo animal y a biocombustibles.
Les dejo algunas fotos de los días que compartí la cosecha de la batata y de varias semillas de diferentes variedades de girasoles y porotos (mis favoritos fueron los porotos de fuego - púrpuras-).

(ENGLISH) In this opportunity, I want to share with you that I went to the Botanical Garden in the neighborhood of Pankow, Berlin, where they have big greenhouses and also 3 cultivated areas: 2 big circular vegetable gardens, that are maintained by neighbors, and a third area where they cultivate the main crops around the world, represented at a small scale in a proportion way, adjusted with data from FAO. This last area it’s a didactic and reflective tool because they also put signs where you can learn how much of each crop is destinated for human food, animal food, and biofuels.
I leave you some photos of the days on which I shared the harvest of the sweet potato and of several seeds, as the diverse varieties of sunflower and beans (My favorites were the fire beans-the purple ones-).
